FORCE BARBELL COACHES

Josh Hale, NSCA CPT

Owner, Coach

Josh Hale has always been an athlete.

Starting in 2nd grade, he was wrestling in tournaments and giving it his all. He wrestled through high school and was a successful competitor in football, lacrosse, shot put, and discus. He competed at the collegiate level at Ball State in rugby for 2 years and lacrosse for 1 year.

Even while in high school, Josh demonstrated real grit.  After an injury caused him to have his mouth and jaw wired shut so he couldn’t eat regular food, which caused him to lose a ton of weight, he still managed to break the Westfield, Indiana’s Highschool lifting records in Squat and Power Clean as well as placing in the top 5 in other lifts.

Josh then entered the army as a medic, serving for four years, including one deployment. In 2009, he won the Golden Gloves for Boxing in the state of Indiana. In 2011, with his wide experience, he began coaching successful athletes in a variety of sports.

Josh started interning at Force Barbell in August of 2019, and then took it over in July of 2020.

Josh says, “Training always connects to life.  I get to have these relationships with people while training, physically helping people to get better while reaching their goals, but it’s more than that – it’s life – it’s the relationships I get to make.  I’m making family and friends here, and if I can impact my family and friends positively with something I have fun doing – man that’s a pretty sweet gig.”

Josh is a NSCA CPT National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer.  He also has 3 Years educated towards a Kinesiology degree from Purdue.

Josh is proud to have a family-owned, faith-based fitness company that positively affects the lives of its members.  He has trained athletes ranging from brand new to competitors who finished 3rd in the nation in USAPL USA Powerlifting, and he has taken five people to national competitions.  He loves bringing people to their full potential.

TYLER MILLER, MS, CSCS, USAW

Owner, Coach

You don’t get to pick the family that you are born into, but Tyler Miller hit the family jackpot.

He grew up with his family playing catch, kickball, and hacking at golf balls in the front yard, shooting hoops in the driveway, and dragging his parents around from one sporting event to another. Tyler eventually went on to a successful collegiate Track and Field career at Purdue University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Movement and Sports Science with a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision in 2008.

In 2009, Tyler returned to his alma mater as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. In that role, Tyler created and implemented strength and conditioning programs for a number of Purdue’s Varsity Sports until 2011 when he completed his Master’s Degree and moved into the private fitness industry.

As a young athlete, his father, who coached a number of his teams, taught Tyler the value of hard work and dedication. Although he has taken many lessons from his various mentors and coaches throughout the years, much of Tyler’s honest, encouraging, and playful coaching style was learned from his father at a young age.

Tyler’s parents also instilled in him a passion for helping others and demonstrated often how to love your neighbor and put others’ needs in front of your own. Although he rebelled against these lessons at times – as any young man does – the values he learned from his parents sank in and eventually became the cultural foundation for Force Barbell.

God, family, integrity, hard work, empathy, and accountability are the backbone of Force Barbell’s community culture, where all members strive for self-improvement and seek to lift each other to greater heights. This culture and community, together with Tyler’s uncommon combination of athletic background, coaching experience, and education, make Force Barbell a unique training facility in the sea of cookie cutter “box” gyms.
