Yikes! I didn’t realize how much time has passed since my last journal entry.
Intern Andy, whom I have been working with, wraps up his last week with Force Barbell this Friday (sniffle, sniffle). I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him.
Every four weeks, my program changes and I’m challenged with new routines. The progress I’m making is very gratifying. Of course the first day of a new program can be taxing, but by the time that four-week period comes to a close, I’m amazed at the progress I’ve made. We don’t get better if we don’t constantly challenge ourselves. That is accountability, according to Force Barbell owner Tyler Miller.
Friends are beginning to comment that I’m looking more toned. Having my efforts acknowledged really fuels my motivation to keep going.
My mind keeps going back to hearing friends say they have gone to a gym for a year or more; they do the exact same routine over and over and don’t see any progress or they get injured. Because the coaches at Force Barbell tailor programs to individual needs in group classes or semi-private sessions, they show you how to do a movement so that you get maximum benefit and results. That’s worth its weight in gold, or as one credit card company says, “That’s priceless.”
I’ve even gotten great numbers during a routine visit to my doctor recently in terms of blood pressure and resting heart rate. And, while the doctor scratches his head when I try to give examples of what I’m doing at Force Barbell, he’s very pleased with the difference it’s making, commenting, “It’s adding years to your life.”
The best to you, Andy, in your endeavors, as you move into your senior year at Purdue and beyond.
